Background: The Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants adopted by its decision SC-7/8 the workplan for the ongoing review and updating of the guidelines on best available techniques (BAT) and provisional guidance on best environmental practices (BEP), and requested the Secretariat to support the expert group in implementing the workplan.By decision SC-7/7, the Conference of the Parties requested the Toolkit experts and the experts on BAT and BEP, to develop joint terms of reference for the synergistic consideration of aspects relevant to releases from unintentional production and best available techniques and best environmental practices for the chemicals listed in Annexes A, B and/or C to the Convention, and requested the Secretariat to continue to support the Toolkit experts in their work.The expert meeting on Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Environmental Practices (BEP) and the Toolkit for Identification and Quantification of Releases of Dioxins, Furans and Other Unintentional Persistent Organic Pollutants under the Stockholm Convention (Toolkit) was held in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 29 September to 1 October 2015. The meeting was organized by the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions in collaboration with the Basel Convention Regional Centre Slovakia.Working Language: English
